Where inspiration grows
CYC Camp Rosenthal has been inspiring Chicago’s children and youth for over 50 years and is a proud part of one of Chicago’s largest independent, locally based, multi-site youth services organizations. Formerly YMCA Camp Arthur, the camp was purchased from the YMCA in 1962 and became Camp Chief Makisabee then latterly Camp Rosenthal. While the name has changed it’s purpose has not and Camp Rosenthal continues to be a life changing experience for over 350 children each summer. Located in Dowagiac, Michigan, just 115 miles from Chicago, Camp Rosenthal is a magical environment that presents an array of possibilities for children and adults alike. During the summer, it is home away from home to many young Chicago campers, where they make their introductions to the great outdoors while meeting new friends, learning new life skills and discovering their leadership potential. Off season, Camp Rosenthal offers a beautiful landscape for private group retreats, weddings, corporate events and family outings.
At CYC’s Camp Rosenthal, our goal is to teach independent life skills that each camper can take back home and implement into their daily lives. It is our hope that at the end of each camp session, we have changed a life or possibly saved a life by offering a service that is not obtainable back at home.
